With the recent price hike, the Tesla Model S All Wheel Drive (AWD) now starts at $74,990 before options in the United States. The Tesla Model S Plaid, which offers 0-60 mph acceleration in 1.99 seconds under optimal conditions, now starts at $89,990 before options.

On the other hand, the Tesla Model X AWD now starts at $79,990 before options. This means that the Model X AWD is still eligible for federal tax credits, as its price is below the IRA's $80,000 limit for SUVs. The Tesla Model X Plaid, which offers 0-60 mph acceleration in 2.5 seconds, now starts at $94,990 before options.

In Canada, industry trackers have found that the Model S AWD has seen a price increase of CAD 6,000, resulting in the all-electric sedan now starting at CAD $103,990. On the other hand, the Tesla Model S Plaid has seen a marginal price increase of CAD 2,000, while the top-tier all-electric sedan now costs CAD 124,990 before options. The Tesla Model X price increase in Canada is more uniform, with both variants of the flagship all-electric SUV seeing a price increase of CAD 3,000. With the recent price adjustments, the Model X AWD now starts at CAD 110,990, and the Model X Plaid now starts at CAD 131,990 before options.

The Tesla Model S and Model X are the best-performing cars in the company's lineup today, but both vehicles have generally lagged behind their peers. The Model 3 and Model Y don't perform as well as the Model S and Model X, but are significantly more affordable. The Cybertruck, while more expensive than the Model S and Model X today, offers far more technology and a more standout design.
